Prime Video’s adaptation of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time had its first season finale in December, and while some things were resolved, there’s a whole lot of WoT to fill up several more seasons.
The good news is we know that there will be at least two more seasons of the show to come. Here’s everything we’ve learned so far about the upcoming second season of The Wheel of Time television series.
The second season of The Wheel of Time started production in Prague on July 19, 2021 with a scene from the show’s second episode. They were halfway through principal photography at the end of November, 2021. and wrapped filming on season 2 at the end of April/early May 2022.

As we see from the slate above, episode 202 was also directed by Thomas Napper, whose previous credits include being a second unit director on Aladdin and Into the Woods. Another confirmed director is Sanaa Hamri, who served as executive producer on Empire and directed several feature films including Something New and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.
We don’t know if there are other directors or what episode Hamri is helming. In May 2021, however, showrunner Rafe Judkins teased the title for the first episode of season two:

The season two opener is called “A Taste of Solitude,” which is a chapter title from Book 6, Lords of Chaos. We also learned that Amanda Kate Shuman wrote the screenplay, who also received writing credit on season one episodes “Shadow’s Waiting” and “The Dark Along The Ways.”
Most of the core cast from season one returned for the second season. One exception is that Barney Harris, who played Mat Cauthon in season one, will be replaced by Dónal Finn. We’ve also gotten some casting additions for season two:

In October 2021, Amazon announced that Ceara Coveney will play Elayne Trakand, a major character in the books. Natasha O’Keeffe and Meera Syal were also announced as joining season two, though we don’t know what specific roles they’ll play other than that they are “two of the most important characters,” according to Judkins.
Judkins has also teased that two major characters whose names start with “El” will be in season two. Coveney’s Elyane is undoubtedly one of them, and the odds are good the second one is Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan, or maybe even Elyas Machera.
We also have some other confirmed casting with roles attached: Gregg Chilingirian will play Lord Ingtar Shinowa, Arnas Fedaravicius will play Masema, and Guy Roberts will be Uno Nomeshta.
Judkins and Shohreh Aghdashloo have also slide into each others DMs via Twitter, so here’s hoping The Expanse actor makes her way onto a future WoT season as well:

And finally, in April 2022 Deadline revealed that Ayoola Smart (Killing Eve) had been cast as the pivotal Aiel character Aviendha.
Judkins has teased what we’ll see plot-wise in season two: (Warning! Spoilers for the end of season one lie below!)
In several interviews, Judkins has confirmed that beloved Loial (Hammed Animashaun) is not dead and will be part of next season. (Phew!) Judkins also teased that there will be a major battle in season two that will top what they did in the first season, and also said that the Horn of Valere will play a part in the upcoming episodes and will allow the show dig into a “really emotional story for two of our characters.”
We also briefly saw the Seanchan at the end of season one, and Judkins confirmed that they’ll “arrive and they affect the story” in the upcoming episodes.
On the unconfirmed front, it also appears that season two will be using Ploskovice Castle in Prague as the set for the Royal Palace. This suggests that Rand (Josha Stradowski) will be making his way to Andor’s capital city, Caemlyn, which is not entirely surprising since that’s where we meet Elayne in the books.
During San Diego Comic Con 2022, a behind-the-scenes teaser was released, showing Aiel, Egwene in the White Tower, and so much more.
And that’s all we know about so far! No news yet on when we’ll be able to see season two on Prime Video, sadly. The good news, however, is that the entire first season is still available for our viewing pleasure on the streaming platform, along with the Origins shorts expanding the backstory of the characters and the world.
